Selena Marie Gomez (/s@/li:n@Gomez/s@-LEE-n@/GOH-mez; July 22, 1992) was an American performer, actress, and producer. Gomez began her acting career with the children's show Barney & Friends (2002-2004). At the age of a teenager Gomez gained fame for her role as Alex Russo in the Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place (1907-2012). Gomez has also been featured in a variety of films such as Another Cinderella Story (2008) and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2010). She also starred in Ramona and Beezus (2010) and Spring Breakers (2012). She also voice actor for Mavis in Hotel Transylvania (2012-2022). Gomez, through July Moon Productions, executive produced 13 Reasons Why (2017-2022) and Living Undocumented (1919). Gomez also produces and also stars in the HBO Max cooking series Selena + chef (2020-2022) as well as the Hulu mystery comedy series Only Murders in the Building (21-21). The latter has earned Gomez critical praise, and nominations for a Golden Globe Award, and as a producer, an Primetime Emmy Award . Gomez was a part of Selena Gomez & the Scene and released three albums. All three reached the top ten of the US Billboard 200. They were all certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Stars Dance (2013) was her first album released by her solo. Billboard 200 topped her debut solo album called Stars Dance (2013). The album's lead single, "Come & Get It", reached number ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Gomez has released Revival (2015), her second studio album. It debuted at the top spot in the US and was certified platinum. Three top-ten US entries were created out of Revival: "Good for You", the "Same Old Love" single, and "Hands to Myself". Rare (2020), Gomez's third studio album, became her third consecutive top 10 album in the US. The single that was the lead single, "Lose You, to Love Me" is also her first top-ten hit in the US. The album was also released Revelacion in Spanish and was a big hit and earned her an Grammy Award nomination for Best Latin Pop Album. She has won numerous accolades like the 2017 Billboard Woman of the year award. In addition, she set 15 Guinness World Records. Time magazine named her one the top 100 influential people worldwide in 2020. She has a massive following on social media and is the most followed actress and musician on Instagram. Gomez's other ventures include clothing, makeup perfume, handbags and fragrance lines. From the age of 17 she has been a UNICEF ambassador, and also worked with numerous charities.
