Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th, 1946, from Locust Ridge Tenn into a struggling family that would one day have 12 children. Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life through her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Before she learned to write and read, she was writing her own songs. In 8 years, she had her very first guitar. In the age of 11 when she was 11, she began singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. In the same year she released her debut album Gold Band Records an independent small label. While she was in school, she had already made a name for herself locally. Her goal was to become more well-known. Following her graduation from highschool in 1964, she relocated to Nashville. Her first charting recordings on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer for his show that was syndicated from the beginning. Parton took the job in the year 1966. She joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. In 1974, she resigned from The Wagoner's Show due to the popularity of her individual songs, such as Joshua Coats in Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release. Following their break-up, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and the song reached the top spot at No. 1. for the first time in 1974.
